Distance Covered:

Kept awake half the night by the rain beating against the roof, woke up to a flooded carpark and more rain. Measured the wind at 35-40+ knots then retired to the van for a looong brekky.

12ish the rain stopped and it brightened up a bit, wind seemed to have stabilised at 30 knots. SO, stroked my new 9m Edge for a while..... then pumped up the 7m Ocean Rodeo instead.

What a great little kite! much quicker than the 9, but not a manic buzz bomb, really solid looking and stable in the air. Good job too, because as it turned out the stable 30 knots was full of massive holes. There were some really viscious gusts, worse I can recall being out in - no time to react. I got pulled off my edge numerous times (who says you don't need to edge a bow??) and twice I had the bar torn out of my hands completely.

Decided I was going to pack it in while I was still in one piece, but then the sun came out and I changed my mind.

Boiling surf, angry skies, howling wind - all bathed in brilliant sunshine... Borth is God's own country at times like these!

Stayed out for another hour bouncing over the waves and hanging on like mad - kinda hoping it would drop enough to try out the 9m Edge.

But - no luck this time. Not the best kiting I've had, but it was an experience being out there.

Thanks to Rich for launching and landing me.
